Outreach Specialist/Systems Advocate – BILS four day a week position Compensation 25k plus free medical insurance. Specific Responsibilities Include: Raising awareness about the NYAIL legislative agenda in the Bx, channeling information to staff, consumers, local media outlets and Bx government officials; Plan and coordinate outreach activities; Provide education and training for community residents, public officials, schools and local non-profit as well as for profit organizations; Working on disability focused advocacy projects focused on Bx institutions; Writing and presenting testimony at public meetings and represent the agency as necessary; Other duties as necessary. Qualifications: PWDs and/or life experience with a disability are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about laws protecting PWDs. And have prior ILC experience. Good time management and organizational skills and be able to work both independently and in a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but may be substituted for relevant work and/or life experience. Knowledge of Windows & Microsoft Office. Bilingual in Spanish and/or ASL is also a plus.
