The Disability Rent Increase Exemption program protects eligible, disabled tenants from rent increases. If your apartment is rent controlled; you or your spouse are disabled and one of you is the leaseholder; you receive state or federal disability-related financial assistance; your total household income last year was less than $18,060 (living alone) or $25,932 (living with others); and your rent is more than one-third of your total household income, you may be eligible.
